The best way to ship orders international and overseas is to have the distributor ship the product to you first and then prepare, re-package and ship the order to your international customers yourself. And there are a couple of reasons why it’s best to ship international orders yourself. First, most U.S. based distributors will not ship orders international or overseas.

Most U.S. distributors will only ship orders within the U.S. However, there are some distributors who will ship orders international and overseas as well. And for those who do, they will also need to include 3 invoices with the order for the international customs agency of where the product is being shipped to.

The problem here is that the distributors’ invoice is going to show their original wholesale price of the product and not the price that you sold the product for. Therefore, your customer will see that the pricing on the invoice is lower than the price they paid for the product while also being shipped from company with different company name. The end result is confusion and dissatisfaction.

This is why it’s best to have the distributor ship the product to you first, where you can include your own invoices and then ship the product to the international customer yourself.

You can offer and add a flat rate shipping charge for different countries and different regions for those countries on your shopping cart. You can also add on international handling fees as well. (To find an average shipping rate simply log on to FedEx.com to check shipping rates for other countries)

Once the customer purchases the product from your website, then you can proceed to have the distributor ship the product to your location via ground shipping. (This ground shipping fee can also be added to the International shipping rate to cover these costs.)

Then you’ll need to create 3 copies of the invoice (including the original invoice) and attach them to the top of the package. (2 invoices are for the international customs agency and 1 invoice is for the customer. All 3 invoices must be attached to the top of the package and not inside).

Check and make sure that the international “ship-to” address is typed in correctly and includes the customers’ phone number in order to make sure that the customer receives the order. (International shipping errors can become costly for both you and the customer if the shipping information is not entered in correctly).

Once the package is ready to be shipped then you can proceed to call FedEx or UPS to come pick up the package from your home or office, or you can drop off the package at your local FedEx or UPS office as well. FedEx or UPS will then ship the product to the international or overseas country.

Many times, the international customer will have to go and pick up the package at the customs agency in order to pay duties (taxes) on the product. Once the duties are paid, then the customer can take possession and ownership of the package and the international or overseas order is now complete.

If you do not have a FedEx or UPS account then you may want to open up your own accounts with both carriers.

Open your own FedEx and UPS account

If you’re going to ship international and overseas then you’re going to have to have your own FedEx and/or UPS account in order to ship the products now and be billed for the shipping charges at the end of each month.

Furthermore, you may want to stock up on hot selling items during the holiday seasons such as Christmas for example in order to make sure that you don’t miss out on any sales opportunities for top selling items. And at the end of the day you can call FedEx or UPS to come pick up the packages from your home or office to be shipped out to the customer that same day.

You can also bring the packages to your local FedEx or UPS office to have the products shipped out to the customer that same day as well. And if you’re going to ship international or overseas then it’s important to have your own FedEx and/or UPS shipping account.

To open your own FedEx shipping account, please visit the “New Customer Center” on the FedEx website, www.FedEx.com

To open your own UPS shipping account, please visit the registration center for new accounts on the UPS website, www.UPS.com

Once you have your own FedEx and/or UPS account then you can ship orders international and overseas with no problems and pay your shipping bill at the end of the month as well.

But if you’re going to ship international and overseas then you’ll be much better off to have the distributor ship the product to you first and then you ship the order to your international customers yourself.
